Guidance notes

Applications for a hackney carriage and private hire vehicle licences can be made online.

Before submitting your application please read the following guidance:

For renewals, reminder letters will be sent to licence holders approximately 4 to 6 weeks before the licence is due to expire. All renewal applications must be submitted at least 1 week before your licence is due to expire. We do not accept responsibility for applications that have not been processed if an application is submitted less than 1 week before expiry. Your licence is at risk if you do not renew it before the date of expiry.

Supporting documents such as your valid insurance certificate, log book (i.e. V5 registration document) and bill of sale/order (for new vehicles only) can be uploaded as part of this process. If we require any further documents they should be emailed to licensing@blackpool.gov.uk when requested.

If your vehicle needs an inspection an appointment should be booked by telephone by calling the licensing team on 01253 478570.

Private Hire vehicle licence new (1 year)	£140 (£130 licence + £10 disc)
Private Hire change of vehicle	£50 (£40 vehicle change fee +£10 disc) [Vehicle inspection fee (£60) to be paid by phone at time of booking]
Hackney Carriage vehicle licence renewal (1 year)	£150 (£130 licence + £20 plates)
Hackney Carriage change of vehicle	£60 (£40 vehicle change fee + £20 plates) [Vehicle inspection fee (£60) to be paid by phone at time of booking]

Before you start you will need:

Your exisiting licence number (for renewal and vehicle change applications)
The Vehicle registration number
A valid email address
A credit/debit card to make payment. (Please note, if payment is not processed successfully your application will not be submitted)
